First Steps for International Students
Immigration Information for Graduate Students
All international students must comply with the Department of Homeland Security-SEVIS regulations. More information on this important process can be found on the International Students and Scholars Center (ISSC) website.
Upon your arrival, you must complete mandatory check in online through the ISSC eForm. You can find the link to the eForm on MyASU under Priority Tasks.
To complete the check in process, you must have the following documents and your LOCAL address.
- ASU I-20 or DS-2019
- Passport
- F-1 or J-1 visa or Approval Notice
- Electronic I-94
When your eForm status shows approved, ASU has completed your SEVIS Registration to activate your SEVIS record. You will receive an email when your continued attendance I-20 is ready to be picked up from the ISSC office.
If you have questions about uploading your documents and/or updating your addresses, you may email an ASU international student advisor.
I-20 Information
Currently the ASU Graduate College is expediting each admitted international applicant's paperwork to ensure I-20s are prepared and ready for postage. In order to ensure admitted applicants are ready for I-20 processing, it is important to submit a completed Financial Guarantee form and proof of funding. The processing of an I-20 will not begin until all documentation is submitted to the ASU Graduate College and your I-20 mailing address has been selected in your MyASU account.
If you have not already done so, please fax or email a completed Financial Guarantee form and proof of funding to the ASU Graduate College at 480-965-7487 or [email protected]. For further information regarding your I-20, please contact Patrick Baker from the ASU Graduate College.
Documentation & Records
International students are required to submit all academic records in the original language accompanied by an official English translation (diploma and final transcripts). Please review the details regarding this policy.
ASU Graduate College may take up to 14 business days to process your Financial Guarantee form and supporting documents for the I-20. If any of the submitted information is incorrect, the ASU Graduate College will contact you directly.
