MGT 540 | EntrepreneurshipEntrepreneurship (from small to medium-sized businesses to scalable enterprises) has been shown to be the true growth engine in the economy for a number of years. Coursework will focus on identifying, evaluating, valuing and developing opportunities from the specific perspective of the entrepreneur. The course will revolve around a series of cases, readings and class discussions designed to build a comfort level with understanding and solving problems faced by entrepreneurs at various phases of the venture development, from concept to harvest. You will be challenged to bring to bear your collective experience and learning to date to evaluate these opportunities and chart a course of action as if you were the entrepreneur. You will take the skill sets you have developed to date and apply them in an entrepreneurial framework, while building your individual entrepreneurial perspective. |
MGT 565 | Business and Public PolicyPublic policy decisions affect threats and opportunities for businesses. This course examines how public policy decisions are made and how businesses can participate in the public policy process. This is an off campus course. The EMBA program will pay for the ground portion expenses (lodging – based on single occupancy, local transportation, entry fees, and most meals) for this course. MGT 580 | International PracticumIn this on-campus and overseas course, students will examine cases and discuss management questions focused on salient international issues by examining problems faced by multinational firms as well as strategic issues faced by local firms in competing in the global business environment as well as how cultural and social processes influence economics, trade, commercial activities and competitive dynamics among these firms. The overseas practicum is designed to provide direct insight into the international business environment and to practice the concepts learned during pre-sessions. Each day besides visiting businesses and industries of interest and having live case examples and discussions with local professors or live case examples to be analyzed individually, in small groups and as a class. As such, this will be a rigorous class with written and oral components expected as outcomes. Students are responsible for paying their flight expenses. The MBA program will pay for the ground portion expenses (lodging – based on double occupancy, local transportation, entry fees, and most meals) for this course. |
