Private Donor Scholarships
A portion of a student’s W. P. Carey scholarship may include private donor funding that carries a “named” award. If a student is selected for a private donor scholarship, their W. P. Carey scholarship may be reduced by the dollar value of the private donor award received. An additional scholarship letter explaining the details of a donor named recognition will be sent to recipients. Receiving other university awards may also require a reduction in a student’s W. P. Carey scholarship.
Additional Forms of Financial Aid

Estimated Tuition & Mandatory Fees
All amounts shown in the Tuition and Fees Schedules or in other University publications or web pages represent tuition and fees as currently approved. However, Arizona State University reserves the right to increase or modify tuition and fees without prior notice, upon approval by the Arizona Board of Regents or as otherwise consistent with Board policy and to make such modifications applicable to students enrolled at ASU at that time as well as to incoming students. In addition, all tuition amounts and fees are subject to change at any time for correction of errors. Finally, please note that fee amounts billed for any period may be adjusted at a future date.
Third-party Sponsorship
Students that use third-party sponsorship (e.g., VA benefits), which covers the direct cost of tuition and fees that would be covered by a W. P. Carey scholarship, may have their scholarship awards reduced or canceled as scholarships are not generally intended to create a cash refund to students, unless otherwise indicated in a student’s award letter.
Deferment
If a student is awarded a scholarship from the W. P. Carey School of Business, but does not begin their program during the admitted semester or is granted a deferment to a later term, the scholarship will be forfeited and canceled. A new scholarship application must be submitted for consideration in the deferred term.
Full-time MBA Awards
Full-time MBA students who are recipients of a merit award that covers 100% of tuition and fees for the Full-time MBA program receive sufficient funding to cover the following costs each semester:
- W. P. Carey Program Tuition
- ASU Graduate Tuition
- University Mandatory Fees‡
‡University Mandatory Fees consist of the following: Resident Surcharge (AZ residents only), Financial Aid Trust, Health and Wellness, Technology, Student Service Facility, Student Programs, Student Athletics and Recreation fees. The Full-time MBA awards package does not cover university non-mandatory fees, books and supplies, or personal/living expenses. University non-mandatory fees include, but are not limited to, Student Health Insurance, ASU Sun Card, International Student Fee, Parking Permit.
Scholarship funding that exceeds the cost of tuition and university mandatory fees during a semester will result in a credit to a student. This credit will be applied to any non-mandatory fees posted to a student’s account at the time of scholarship disbursement.
The Full-time MBA award value is based on residency information a student provides at the time of admission and the associated program costs. Should a student’s residency status change, the W. P. Carey School of Business reserves the right to adjust a student’s scholarship award accordingly.
Graduate Assistantships (GA)
Full-time MBA award packages include a graduate assistantship*
- Work Requirement: Average of 10 hours each week at the W. P. Carey School of Business
- Stipend: $24,586 over the course of the two-year program
- Students receive a bi-weekly paycheck through the academic year
* If a student declines their graduate assistantship (GA), the associated GA tuition benefits (RA/TA Remission, RA/TA Scholarship) will be cancelled and replaced by an equivalent amount of program scholarship funding. Declining a graduate assistantship will not impact our initial level of scholarship commitment.
Outside Employment for Full-time MBA students
Experience has shown that successful participation in the two-year, Full-time MBA program requires continuous and substantial expenditure of time in excess of that which students’ past educational endeavors have demanded. W. P. Carey has determined that outside employment and other outside substantial time commitments are inconsistent with the program’s design and adversely impacts not only the individual student’s learning experience, but also that of the cohort. Accordingly, for the benefit of the program and student alike, W. P. Carey prefers that participants devote their full time and effort to the program. Therefore, outside employment or other substantial outside time commitment (greater than 5 hours/week) is strongly discouraged.
